Jenny Simpson
Jenny Simpson on the advantages and disadvantages of having a career in country music and being from Nashville.
Jenny Simpson- By working behind the scenes on Music Row for so many years, I think I got to see a side of Nashville that not a lot of people get to see. Now, did that give me an advantage.
On breaking in as a singer.
Jenny Simpson- I don’t think it did. I think it was just a tough and I had a hard a time as anybody who would move here, breaking into a career in country music.
On living and working in Music City.
Jenny Simpson- I like calling Nashville my home. My whole family is from here and my husband is from here. His name is Rob Baker, he’s in law school. I’m pushing him to take more entertainment law classes (she laughs). We went to high school together so I’ve known him for a while. It’ s really nice to live in Nashville and have him attending school here.
I think, just because I’m from Nashville and I’m working on a career in country music, it doesn’t make me any different. I grew up doing the same thing I think most people do. Going to school, playing sports, cheerleading. I don’t think I had an advantage music wise, there’ s not a lot of country music concerts here in Nashville. I would consider where I live a pretty Wal Mart type of place (she laughs).
