Charlie Robison
(Q)- Marriage among country recording artists traditionally has a high rate of crumbling apart. Within your wife’s outfit, Natalie and Martie both divorced and Natalie remarried. You recently married your wife and you as well as your wife have been in this business for quite a while. You two are probably both aware of the “risk factor” that comes with two “country stars” getting married.
Charlie Robison (CR)- Her and I, we live in San Antonio, Texas and it’s (their marriage) is the strongest thing in the world. When we’re not working (on their recording and performing careers) neither one of us has any need to do a thing but then create a wonderful life for the two of us. We have an old family ranch, about 1,000 acres and we have our ranch that sits right next to it.
(Q)- Do you actually work the property?
(CR)- Oh yeah. I consider myself a rancher. Living here is a very grounding thing for us. It’s one of the most grounding things in our lives for us. We have plenty of movie star friends who we can call up and they come down and visit us here and they love it. We have plans to one day have our own family and we’re gonna have kids.
(Q)- So no Nashville realtor is going to sell the two of you an over priced piece of property in Brentwood (Tennessee)?
(CR)- (He laughs.) No. No. That’s not in danger of happening anytime soon. We are very content being away from all of that. (Nashville and the music industry.) That’s the only way that I could ever write. (He says he is more comfortable doing his songwriting at home on the ranch.) We very content living down here.
