In-between her concert dates, Rimes has been house hunting in Los Angeles, where she says, she can begin working on another career in television and possibly motion pictures. Rimes says she first caught the acting bug last year while working on the set of her made for television movie “Holiday in Your Heart” and a recent role on the television soap “Days of Our Lives”, has fueled Rimes interest in making a move to Hollywood.
The following interview took place backstage at the huge “Jamboree In The Hills” country music festival in St. Clairsville, Ohio, this past Thursday.

While her father hovered over her as she sat on a coach, Rimes was eager to answer questions on her big move to LA, her acting career and plans for her “Sweet Sixteen” birthday party.
(Q)- I saw you’re appearance on TV on, “Days of Our Lives” recently.
(A)- Oh great!
(Q)- I’m wondering when you might be back on there.
(A)- I have no plans to be back on there yet. I just kind of went on there for fun. I had a blast being on there, I really did. I have no plans to go back on there yet, I just went on and did it for fun.
(Q)- Well, I heard you might be back on there.
(A)- Yeah, well, I guess the last line my character had on that episode said was,’You know, maybe one day I’ll be back (she laughs).’ So maybe I’ll be back on there one day. But, right now there’s no like, future plans for me to be on that show.
(Q)- I heard that you’re possibly looking for a home out in Los Angeles. Is there any truth to that and if so, can you give me an idea as to why you’re moving out there?
(A)- I’m living in Dallas right now, but I’m looking for a place in LA. Because basically, I’m working on a few movies right now and there’s some acting possibilities being offered to me, so I’m moving out there basically because of that. After all, I’m out there so often that I figured I should just get my own place out there and go back and forth between there and Dallas.
(Q)- There are rumors that Andrew Keegan (19 of “Party Of Five” TV show) are pretty close. Is there any chance that you’re moving out there to get closer to Andrew so you don’t have to rack up the phone bill keeping in touch with him?
(A)- No (she laughs). Actually, Andrew and I are best friends and I’m not moving out there just to be closer to him (she laughs). Pretty much the reason I am moving to LA is because I’m going to be pursuing the whole movie thing. There’s a lot of talk right now about me taking on a career in acting. We’ve been looking at a lot of scripts and hopefully we’re going to be filming a movie in January.
(Q)- Last year, there as that major TV movie you were in. You were great in that.
(A)- Oh great! Thank you.
(Q)- How did that come about and did you get a lot of input with that?
(A)- Actually, what happened last year was I co-wrote a fictional Christmas book with Tom Carter called “Holiday In Your Heart” and that basically got picked up and the script was written into a movie that was on ABC. Basically, it was a neat experience for me, it was kind of different. I had two days off from like a whole year of touring and, I had to learn my lines in two days. So when I got in there and had to act on the set every day, I did it in two weeks and it was really fun. I had a lot of fun acting and that’s why I have decided to pursue some more acting roles and start working on that part of my career. I have had a lot of offers for different roles.
(Q)- You’ll be having your “Sweet Sixteen” birthday on August 28. Any plans for a special birthday party?
(A)- I don’t really know yet. Hopefully, for my sixteenth birthday, I’m planning to have a party in LA. I’m going to be out there for a few days because we’re on the road. So we’ll be out there and we have a day off on the twenty eighth, between two shows. So, I’m going to have a birthday party with a few friends. That’s about it. It’ll be something really small.
(Q)- You’re outfit looks great! It’s so retro. Are those Diesel designer jeans you’re wearing?
(A)- Yes!
(Q)- You seem comfortable in so many different looks, but lately you’ve been wearing clothes with a Seventies vibe. Do you collect vintage denim and clothing?
(A)- No. I don’t collect vintage denim, but I wear a lot of vintage clothes from the Seventies. I’m into the old look from the Seventies in a lot of ways.
